The Root of the Problem

Okay, Here's My Deal...
I went to my dentist today. Wish I hadn't...because now, tomorrow I have to go to another dentist and have not one, but TWO root canals. So, when I told my principal I ahd to take the day off and told him the deal, he asked where I was going to have it done and I told him and he asked, "Is it the lady?" and I said I thought so and he just looked at me and said, "Oh, well, good luck." I looked at him and said he couldn't just say that and leave me hanging.
Seems he went to her for a root canal recently and he said even though he felt no pain and she was personable and attractive (whatever that has to do with the procedure...) he was worse off than he was before. He had gone back to his dentist and now has to be refered to another doctor to fix what is wrong. Yeah, that made me feel so much better.
Hopefully, I won't be on here in a day or two telling about my horrible visit. I am praying that there is another woman in the practice and she will be my doctor. Oh, well, it is what it is and this too shall pass. Do I sound convincing to you? Didn't think so...I don't to me, either.

Picture This

Okay, Here's My Deal...

Yesterday, we took the boys to the mall to see Santa. We were hoping tath neither one of htem, 3 1/2 and 8 months, would freak out. They didn't, although the oldest was a little shy and Santa had a hard time hearing him. I videoed and they got pictures taken. We ordered the samllest package and then sat down to look at the prints before going on to JC Penney to look for gloves for the oldest.

We got home and I asked my husband where the pictures were so that I could look at them better and scan them into hte computer to share. He couldn't find them and went out to the vanto get them. Came in and he said they were not there. We called the mall and asked them to look for them and they did, but could not find them. My husband decided to brave the snow storm we were having and go look himself. No luck. He even went back to Santa's workshop to see if they could reprint them if he paid again, but she had already deleted them.

We were disappointed, but thankful we had at least taken the video. We knew we could get the pictures redone, but it would not be the same.

This morning, the phone rang and it was JC Penney. Someone had found the pictures in the store and turned them into lost and found!!!!! We are very excited. I am even going to write a letter to the editor of hte paper thanking whoever found them and turned them in.

Let's Get Ready to Stop Rumbling

Okay, Here's My Deal...
There is a certain person in my life that I love very much. I admire and respect them for a variety of reasons, not limited to, but including the following characteristics:
  • their ability to stand up for themselves and the things for which they feel strongly/passionately
  • their no holds barred approach to things in life--letting nothing get in their way if at all possible
  • their respct and love for anyone or anything that is any way threatened, discriminated, repressed or in any other way treated uneaqually
  • their sense of humor and ability to know how to find humor in some of the most serious situations in order to encourage their fellow man

However, recently, a subject arose in which we did not see eye to eye--something that does happen from time to time. It was a subject in which my passion ran as deep as theirs. Words were said, things were taken in ways in which they were not intended and it became a big deal.

I still love this person very much and I still admire nad respect them. I don't know what the difference was this time for it to escalate as much as it did...neither does the other person. All I know is that I want this to be over. I in no way want to forget that it happened, but I just want it over so we ca nmove on and I want ot be able to celeberate and enjoy the holidays of Christmas and New Year's with them.

You may wonder, as may the person if they happen to read this, why I am being gender neutral and in all other ways trying not to disclose who they are or what their relationship to me is. Not because I am afraid they will be upset, but rather out of respect for them. It does not matter for everyone in the world to know who it is, but I felt it more important to describe the situation because I know many people go through the same things with people in their lives. Maybe they can relate and reach out to someone with whom they have a strained relationship amd mend it for not only the holidays, but forever. That is really what I pray and hope for in my situation.

Dark-N-Saucy

Okay, Here's My Deal...

A few posts back, I wrote about Hot-N-Fluffy basically to make my husband smile because it is an inside joke. It had to do with a comedian who is rather large and he said he told women to think of him as hot and fluffy. Since I am chunky, or rather, fluffy myself, well, I cracked up. I joked and said that could be a website for guys that like large women: http://www.hot-n-fluffy.com/

Well, today when we picked up the boys at the sitter's, she and I were talking about the new cinnamon wheat thins and the cinnamon sun chips. We both like them and I said that I liked the garden salsa the best. My husband turned around and said, "What did you say? Dark and saucy?!" The sitter cracked up and asked, "Is that what she calls you? Dark and Saucy?" So, I guess the companion site to mine would be: http://www.dark-n-saucy.com/

Anyway, I am sure that name will stick with him for a while with the sitter. Crazy.

Let the Glutony Begin

Okay, Here's My Deal...
This particular penguin is most likely what I will look like come January. The annual glutony has begun in my school's office. There are treats galore for the Christmas season and it is just a graze-fest all of December.
Add to that my husband's new venture into the confectionary world (tonight it was Oreo truffles...a few days ago it was carmel cups...I love that man.) and trying to perfect his techniques and recipes and there I will be.
Tonight, I even took a spoon and got a dip into the carmel sauce just because. My husband asked my why I did it and I said, "Because it looked good." I disappointed him because my usual response to a question like that involving food is, "Because I'm FAT."

Two In One

Okay, Here's My Deal...
I feel like I am two people in one. This is a school related deal.
One of my duties this year at school is to monitor a study hall. Last year, I had two, so I was very happy that I only got one this year. However, I would gladly take the two I had last year back. This one is a nightmare.
In my regular classroom, I do not have discipline problems. I just don't. Things go smoothly for the most part...but I admit I am a little spoiled because I do teach gifted ed and the higher level math courses, so I tend to have a "better" quality student on average. I rarely get upset ay my kids and they know when I am joking iwth them and when I am serious.
Study hall, on the other hand is just the opposite. I have all kinds of issues with kids up and out of their seats and trying to do whatever they want. I am constantly yelling at them to stop doing the same things over and over and over. I have changed seating arrangements at least 10 times and nothing works. It is horrible...and to make matters worse, it is last period of the day.
I just don't get what the problem is. And we are not even half way through the year. Ugh.
